Check it out too. 今回は梅雨の時期のスケッチ会ということでお天気が心配だったのですが、大雨に見舞われた前日から一転、この通り快晴。夏の陽射しがぎらぎら照りつける暑い一日になりました。 Now we are in the middle of the rainy season, so I was worried about the weather for this meet-up. But, as contrasted to the heavy rain of the previous day, it was brilliantly sunny and super hot. 今回訪ねた月島佃島は、隅田川下流のいわゆる下町と呼ばれる地域。午前中はまず月島駅の南側に伸びるもんじゃストリートを中心に月島エリアを散策、スケッチしました。今やもんじゃを売りに観光地化していますが、大通りを一歩入ると昭和的な風情のある細路がまだ残っています。元々は100年ほど前に埋め立てて作られた人工島ですので、隅田川河口～東京湾の景色も見られます。 Tsukishima/Tsukudajima is a so-called shitamachi district of the Sumida River downstream area. Last year I wrote about what urban sketching was for me at the moment . There I said the definition would change as I experience more. So here is an updated version and it’s going to be all about my personal take on urban sketching. 昨年、 アーバンスケッチを始めての所感をまとめた投稿 をしましたが、今回はそのアップデート版です。非常に個人的な内容ですが、よかったら読んでみてください。 When I wrote the last post, “sharing” was everything for me. It was (and still is) fun seeing others’ amazing sketches, posting my own pieces, receiving reactions, and sometimes going drawing together. I enjoyed socializing through sketching. I went to OhHara Fishing Port in Chiba to sketch with friends from Yotsuya Dessin over the weekend.  It was a sketch outing event that was originally held at Setsu Mode Seminar, the school founded by legendary fashion drawing artist, Setsu Nagasawa, where many of Yotsuya Dessin members had graduated from.   Mr. Nagasawa was undoubtedly one of the greatest figure in fashion figure drawings however, he also taught with as much enthusiasm the importance of field sketching/landscape painting.  Now, the member of Yotsuya Dessin has decided to revive that fun and exciting event once again.  I participated as a member of Urban Sketchers Japan to witness that. For English version, click HERE. 先週末は泊まりがけで、四谷デッサン会主催の「大原スケッチ会」に参加してきました。千葉の大原漁港でスケッチをするこのイベントは、元々四谷デッサン会のメンバーたちが卒業した「セツ・モードセミナー」という学校の恒例行事だったそう。セツ・モードセミナーを始めた長沢節という人は、日本のモードデッサンの第一人者。その教え子、生徒達は驚くほどの数であり、多岐にわたる分野で活躍しています。   さて、そんなセツ先生は人物デッサンだけではなく、風景写生に対する造詣も深く、カリキュラムとしても人物デッサンと同じ情熱で、写生、風景画を教えていたようです。今回その大原でのスケッチ会の楽しさを蘇らせよう！という事で、僕はロケーションスケッチを柱にするアーバンスケッチャーズの一員として参加してきました！！ 事前に聞いていたのは、セツの面々はスケッチのスケールが大きく、紙のサイズがB判半切り画用紙（540×765mm）との事！普段スケッチブックを片手に描く僕からすると、正直別次元です。例えばいつも使っているサイズがiPadくらいの大きさだとすれば、半切りサイズと言えば、居間に鎮座する大きめのテレビ画面ほどの大きさ！イーゼルを立てて描くのが基本と成ります。 そのスケールの大きさを体感したいと思い、僕も画板やイーゼルを用意して挑みましたが、しかし！正直全く歯が立ちませんでした！！持参した一番大き い１８号のブラシでも、小さいカッターナイフで巨大な鬼と戦うかのごとく、全く手応えがない！！「こ、、、こんなはずじゃ？！（汗）」うろたえている間に も、動かぬ相手に心理戦で追いつめられます。。。なんせ画角がでかい！そしてその画角に、描く対象を収めるのさえ手探り！！ゼーゼーハーハーと言った感じ です、ホントに！参りました！！正直かなり凹みました（笑）   下のふたつが、普段僕が使っているスケッチブックのサイズです。 半切りがどれほどのサイズかお分り頂けるでしょう？上の大きいのが半切り。 途中で放棄しました（笑） しかしデッサン会の友だちを見るとどうでしょう！？彼らはちゃんと大きめの斧くらいの、家の壁でも塗るような刷毛ブラシ持参
