The last train home was packed with awesome models!!

Image
The other day, I hopped on a late night train back home.  Usually, during the day, people are more aware of themselves and it is very difficult to pull out a sketchbook and start drawing them. But it was a weekend late night train, people are all feeling somewhat detached and were minding their own businesses so it was the perfect opportunity!! As I was a bit tipsy myself, my left brain kept quiet so I guess that helped me to draw more natural? loose? organic lines than I usually do? ppl sitting in front of me while I stood and drew. They are so into their worlds. As the previous modes all got off, I was able to sit an...

Image

Sketch meet up at Nishiogikubo, and Ikebukuro

Image
Jeff from Netherland whom I've met in Manchester this summer was visiting Japan, so we had short sketch session with Eriko, Atsuko, Miyu in Nishiogikubo. This place is non of tourist site, just a ordinary Tokyo town, yet we found charm there through sketchers point of view. Next day, we had sketch meeting in Ikebukuro. Kwin from Thailand, whom I've met in Singapore last year, Atsuko, and I drew one of the most busy scene of Tokyo street. It was always joy to discover something new by seeing fellow sketchers way of drawing and tools. That's why small group sketch session is good to communicate, and to learn.

Another day in Matsudo

Image
Let me continue my Matsudo story. This is the sketch from around the place I live. You can see Seitoku University on the hill. I live down that hill in a community centre (自治会館) ,  called Iwase (岩瀬). Red post box, where I sent postcards to friends abroad, little park and notifications board, everything is familiar here to me and part of my daily life. While drawing I met local people and talk to them.

Matsudo

August started! It is so hot outside. I invite you to take a look at Matsudo city with me. I choose a spot on the asphalt in the shadow in front of the Saizeriya. Saizeriya,  I would like it if there was no smoking zone, ahahaha. Thank you for cheap drink bar and cheese doria. Matsudo has a landscape undulation. This big stairs on the picture is very long, they lead to the hill where is  Matsudo Central park located. Matsudo city is famous for it's ramen shops. One of them is just behind me. They serve tsukemen (you put noodles to the fish bouillon which goes aside from noodles) there. Next time I will draw ramen, maybe. This is Matsudo city office. They are very busy. When I moved here in April, following usual procedures I  was waiting for papers in the line, where drew this sketch. People say that Matsudo have nothing special, it's just a bed town. At first I would agree, but the more I live here, the more interesting places and  people I discov...

Hi, everyone! How is this hot summer? Struggling without much drawing preparing my exam. I want to share sketch from last summer in Inage district of Chiba. Little shrine with huge trees.  I like crows. ⬆︎ They live in Shrine forest. Moskitos ate my legs while I draw it.  Maybe 2 hours I spent there.  Good time. August 2015 Hope to do some sketches in this summer vacations too ^^

Sketch meeting in Ginza

Image
Marian from Melbourne and Tokyo sketchers had sketch meeting in Ginza, Tokyo. Each one has unique approach and tool of their own. So influential. It was not too hot, great to spend time under the umbrella at the pedestrian paradise.
