とってもお久しぶりの Meet Your USkJ Friends です。インタビュー形式でUSkJメンバーを紹介するこの企画は、もともと2020年、パンデミックで対面することが制限されるなかでもメンバー同士を知り合い、繋がりを保とうという目的で始まりました。現在、状況は改善してきており、スケッチ会も少しずつ再開しています。当初の企画の役割が終わりつつある一方、グループの活動再開に伴い、新たなメンバーが増えています。せっかくですから彼らのことも紹介したい。もっと知りたい。ということで、今回はこの春来日された、日本の近代建築大好きなベトナム出身の Haiさん のインタビューです。毎度ながら英語でいただいた回答をわたしが簡単に訳しています。ぜひお楽しみください〜。 Finally, a new episode of Meet Your USkJ Friends ! 2021 was the busiest year for me. What I hate about being busy is that it undermines creativity. Overwork does not only cause decreased time of drawing, but also diminishes the ability of appreciating art. I was uninspired for the last few months. So, I decided to spend time winding down and immersing myself in drawing during the year-end and New Year holiday. Here are some of the results. 2021年は思いがけず本業に忙殺される一年になりました。忙しくなると嫌なのは、自分のクリエイティブな面がすり潰されていくこと。単純に描く時間が減るだけではなく、アートを楽しむ心の余裕や気力が削がれてしまうのです。そんなわけでここ数ヶ月は仕事の記憶しかなかったのですが、年末年始の休暇はしっかり休んで絵を楽しむことにしました。いくつか描いたものをシェアします。 December 31 (New Year's Eve) I sketched a quiet back alley near Funabashi Station, which was busy with people out for shopping. I was also there to run errands, but squeezed in time to sketch. It was too cold to draw outside though... ズーム越しにしか知らなかった人に実際に会うというパンデミック時代ならではの経験は、私個人にとっては今回が初だったと思います。 I think this was the first time for me personally to actually meet someone I had only known through a zoom lens, which is a unique experience characteristic of the pandemic era. The dolphin plane of Amakusa airline Kumi-san arrived on. そして、実際の対面のワークショップというのも、これまた私個人にとっては初であり、またUSKのワークショップが天草で開催されるのももちろん初、さらにUSK全体でも、パンデミックが始まって以来初めての現場ワークショップということで、今回の企画は色々な意味でプチ歴史的なワークショップでした。 It was also the first time for me to attend a face-to-face workshop, the first time for USK to hold a workshop in Amakusa, and the first time for USK as a whole to hold an on-site workshop since the beginning of the pandemic. In many ways, this was a petit-historical workshop. Wink, Squint and Appreciate (天草スケッチinさきつ）のワークショップは14名の参加者さんと、地元の方の多方面のご協力と、天草のスケッチグループのチームワークのおかげで無事に開催することができました。ものすごく寒くなり、参加者さんの体調がとても気になった現場でしたが、寒さを忘れるほど夢中になる瞬間があったと話してくださった方や、寝袋を用意されてスケッチに挑んだ方までいて、みなさんが盛り立ててくださって、とてもいい雰囲気の中でさせていただきました。感謝でいっぱいです。ありがとうございました！ We had 14 participants as well as Amakusa sketch group members ( as helping hands) in Workshop in the cold day.Thanks to local community and Amakusa ( USK Japan) members, it turned out to be a blast.
